ABBEY ROAD TRIP: JUNE 2016
There's never a dull moment when you set foot inside Abbey Road Studios (or climb its front stairs, or take step on its famous street crossing for that matter), and this trip has been no different. Over the past week our CTO and acoustic engineers have been based at the Studios working side by side with the Abbey Road Red team to explore workflows for producing 3D audio experiences for OSSIC X. In addition we were excited to able to bring our brand new Eigenmike microphone (pictured above) along to make some experimental high order ambisonic recordings in Abbey Road's stunning Studio One.
OSSIC X PROTOTYPE UPDATE
This week we finally received the first (albeit rough) prototypes into our office from our manufacturer. The engineering team performed a full audit on Wednesday, and various improvements were highlighted and approved for the next round. As you can see, this is a first build so many aesthetic pieces are still rough around the edges, and some have not even been completely finished. That’s the nature the prototype phase, and the beauty of the long process it takes to go from a sketch to a fully functional product. In addition to the design and hardware review, the team also began acoustic testing and tuning of the prototype to establish another baseline going forward. We’re excited to continually share more progress as it comes!
