Sally Kellaway, Creative Director of OSSIC Studios, may be one of the biggest audio nerds you’ll ever meet. We’ve talked with her on the blog before, and she has spoken at many of the major VR and gaming events around the country.
Before working at OSSIC, Sally founded the Virtual Reality Content Creators Network for Australia (VRCC_AUS) and the IGDA Special Interest Group for Virtual, Augmented and Mixed Realities. She’s a big proponent for VR and how it can positively impact the future of both entertainment and the world. In this talk, she discusses how to approach audio for interactive VR content.
A full review of the OSSIC X project courtesy of a Kickstarter backer named John. He reached out to us several weeks ago to see if he could schedule a visit the office, and was able to make it down from LA last week. During his visit he sat down with Jason and Joy to ask some questions he sourced by our backers, demo the latest headphone, and overall get a sense of the project status.
Today we're excited to share some recent progress on the OSSIC X microphone array, which will be a key feature in the final product.
Since our last update we’ve made measurable progress with both the technology and development. See below for the milestones we have hit since September, and make sure to view our latest Localization Accuracy Test post comparing our technology to other gaming headphones. The results from the data has been nothing short of amazing.
The OSSIC X is truly delivering breakthrough 3D audio performance. The buzz surrounding it has led some gaming headphones to claim 3D and VR capability for marketing purposes, but when put through the rigorous testing we subject our product to, you can see that they miss the mark, literally.
