As virtual reality grows ever the more popular, video game developers are releasing VR games left and right. Get prepared and put your VR headsets on, as these are the most anticipated VR games to be released for Fall 2017 and beyond.

Skyworld VR

Release date: Fall 2017

Platform(s): HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Windows Mixed Reality

Skyworld is a strategy turn-based game where you can live your dreams of being a commander of a medieval fantasy kingdom.  Build your defenses, gather your resources, and conquer other kingdoms.  If you are a fan of real-time battle sequences with magic, knights, dragons, and archers, then this is the game for you.

Fallout 4 VR

Release Date: December 12, 2017

Platform(s): HTC Vive

It hasn't been too long since Fallout 4's release in 2015. Nevertheless, Bethesda has been keeping gamers a bit busy with a handful of DLC releases. On top of that, promised VR support with the HTC Vive is creating an entire new experience of gameplay for both old and new Fallout fans alike.

The entire game will be integrated into VR.  As expected, you’ll be able to access the Pip-Boy on your wrist at any time. You’ll also be able to move either with the Vive controller touchpad or opt out for the standard teleport option to get around this massive open world.

Skyrim VR

Release Date: November 17, 2017

Platform(s): Playstation VR

I know people complain that Bethesda should just re-release Elder Scrolls 6 already.  I mean what's next Skyrim for you Toaster? At least for me, I am glad that they are creating Skyrim for VR.  I mean, come on, what better way is there to slay dragons, overthrow an empire, and shout people to death?  Of course, in immersive virtual reality?  Commemorating the sixth year anniversary of Skyrim, Bethesda announced this anticipated re-release at Sony’s E3 2017 press conference.

In terms of movement, they will have an option for warp movements.  When you fire your bow, you’ll actually have to draw your bow physically; it won’t even have cross hairs.  And the swords also do follow the movements of your hands. So you can actually physically stab your enemies.  You would probably have made some nice muscle gains by the end of beating this game.

With beautiful landscapes, cities, and funny NPCs, what else could we ask for?  So it is time to pull out your swords, learn your magic spells, and draw your bows once again, fellow Dovahkiins.

Half Life 2 VR

Not a specific trailer for Half-Life 2 VR, but this showcases the graphics we could expect:

Release Date: TBA

Platform(s): TBA

The Steam Community recently greenlit Half-Life 2 to be released in VR and produce by the Source VR Mod Team. Considering that over 12 million copies were sold by 2011, its not a surprise that this announcement has gotten people at the edge of their seats.  With such a strong following of passionate fans to the point where memes are made of it, this release will provide a great chance for old and new fans to play the game in a new and exciting way.

LA Noire: The VR Case Files

Release Date: November 14, 2017

Platform(s): HTC Vive

With over 5 million copies sold by 2012, Rockstar Games will be releasing LA Noire in VR. With seven select cases from the original game, revamped graphics, and VR-geared gameplay, this game offers a fresh experience for this classic detective game.

Doom VFR

Release Date: December 1, 2017

Platform(s): HTC Vive, Playstation VR

Doom VFR obviously stands for Doom "Virtual Fantastic Reality." I mean what else could it stand for? (Don't answer that question in the comments)

Doom’s excessive goriness is enough to make any action gamer satisfied.  Even though Doom VFR won’t offer the original campaign, its in-game simulations are compelling enough for us that fact.  Teleportation will be the movement system, and time will tell if developers will add alternative movement modes.

Arktika.1

Release date: Q3 2017
Platform(s): Oculus Rift

In a post-apocalyptic world, the Earth has fallen into another devastating ice age.  Humanity has been struggling to survive on the few habitable places left on the earth.  As you explore the wastelands of old Russia, you won’t be able to resist marveling at the awe-inspiring scenery.  Whether you’re fighting off robots, mercenaries, or creatures, there is definitely a lot of conflict to keep anyone interested in this first-person shooter.

Utilizing the blink system to warp around static points may take getting used to for the more traditional first-person shooter gamers, but regardless, this game will be a blast to play when it releases.

Walking Dead VR

Platform(s): TBA

Thanks to Skybound Entertainment and Skydance Interactive,  we will finally have an entire series of virtual reality video games that will revolve around the Walking Dead universe.  Whether you're a fan of the show or just want to shoot zombies, this game will provide plenty of entertainment alongside a storyline that won't disappoint.

Supermassive Games is developing Bravo Team VR as a cover-based, first person shooter exclusively for PlayStation VR.  As waves of soldiers flood the city, you and your ally must cooperate strategically to navigate the meandering streets and chaotic warfare.

This game will be a bit more unique than other cooperative shooters because the game won't provide as many queues to you as other shooting games.  The players will really have to communicate between themselves to figure out how to accomplish their missions.  Whether it be providing cover for another player or making life-and-death decisions, this game will definitely help your teamwork skills.

You will be free to either play solo or team up with a friend via the PSN.  Also, the game will allow players to use the PlayStation’s VR’s Aim controller, adding even more immersion into the game.

Mage's Tale

Platform(s): Oculus Rift

If you’ve played any of the other notable RTS games throughout the years, Brass Tactics provides dynamic, immersive gameplay that’ll keep you busy for weeks.  The graphics in itself are enticing, but it is definitely fun to watch your units come to live on the board in this table-based, real-time strategy VR game.

From Other Suns

Release date: Fall 2017
Platform(s): Oculus Rift, Gear VR

From Other Suns is a multiplayer VR shooter game.  You will be the captain of a spaceship in dire need of your leadership.  Half of humanity is trapped on the far side of a wormhole and needs your help to thwart off the hundreds of space pirates, robots, aliens, and zombies that torment them.  Whether it be upgrading your ship, managing weapons, or fighting for your lives, it will be hard to not find something to do in this action adventure game.  With open world freedom, you will have to choose between saving nearby ships in danger or pursuing the main quests.

Beat Saber

Release date: TBA
Platform(s): Oculus Rift, HTC Vive

If games like DDR get you pumped, this game will most definitely give you a thrill as you slash through a flurry of targets. It is a game that will require a bit more strategy than you might think because based on the color of your saber, you will have to hit specific targets in the specific directions.

It’s also important to note that one of the musicians who worked on the Star Wars soundtrack will be working on the score, so it'll be hard not feeling like Obi-Wan Kenobi while playing this game.

Toran

Release date: TBA
Platform(s): Oculus Rift, HTC Vive

A scientists finds an alien artifact which allows individuals to travel between the stars.  Using your quick wits, solve various puzzles by manipulating holographic entities to reflect light from one place to another.  Upon solving each puzzle, you’ll be teleported to a new location to face your next test.  With absolutely stunning graphics, interesting puzzles, and a compelling plot, we couldn't help but put this on our list.

Star Child VR

This platformer game in itself provides a strong tone of mystery with it.  As you visit an alien world with Sci-fi technology, you find that the female protagonist is on a desperate search for something dear to her. Apparently, the mystery of her search will be quite the surprise.

The Inpatient

LIla's Tale

Release date: TBA
Platform(s): Gear VR

Lila’s Tale really stands out from the rest of the VR games here. Instead of using a controller to direct the main character, in this game you will use your eyes.  Yes, you heard that correctly. Wherever you look with your eyes, Lila will walk towards that direction.  This side scroller will bring you across a myriad of interesting puzzles in a beautiful watercolor-esque world.
