SUMMARY OF OSSIC'S KICKSTARTER JOURNEY

A RECAP OF THE OSSIC X ON KICKSTARTER

Wow, we are so fortunate to have backers like you. Thank you so much OSSIC Army, for being the first to make the world’s first auto-calibrating 3D audio headphone a possibility with the OSSIC X. We want to keep you in the loop as much as possible, so from now on we’ll be releasing an update from OSSIC via this blog and personal email on Fridays so you’re in the know on what’s going on with the OSSIC X.

This week, we’re bringing you a full rundown of our Kickstarter journey. We hope you enjoy. :)

A quick note for our backers before we start: backer surveys will be in all of your inboxes by the end of next week. Keep a lookout for those!

With that, let the story commence...

The Kickstarter journey in a nutshell

It all started out with a dream… to revolutionize audio as the world knows it through the OSSIC X. In order to make that dream happen, we knew that we would need help from others who shared our vision. And that’s where you came in. We embarked on the Kickstarter journey knowing that it wouldn’t be easy, but ready to take on the challenge. After extensive development on the OSSIC X, we were ready to show you all what we had created. That’s when step one came: the Kickstarter video.

Creating the Kickstarter video was lots of fun for our team. Narrated by two of our fearless leaders Jason Riggs and Joy Lyons (our CEO and CTO respectively) we did our best to create a video that encompassed everything we envisioned: our technology, our team, our vision for the possibilities of 3D audio, and YOU. We made sure to incorporate footage of folks trying the OSSIC X for the first time so that you could see for yourself how incredible what we created really is. We had a great time gathering reaction footage from supporters at events like CES 2016, and hope you found them to be helpful. Though the video involved lots of hard work, we made sure to have fun along the way and thanks to a wonderful film crew created a product that we were very proud of. We hope you enjoyed the video, too. It was all for you!

With the Kickstarter campaign ready to go and anticipation at an all-time high, at 12:00 AM on February 23rd, 2016 the OSSIC X went live on Kickstarter. Our team members were present from around the world, and we all sat in anticipation at our screens together at the office. In a matter of seconds, pledges started to roll in. One pledge, two pledges, five pledges, twenty pledges. In a matter of minutes, we hit our $100,000 goal. We were speechless. All of our work was paying off right before our eyes, and it was an incredibly proud moment in OSSIC history.

After our momentum as a campaign was off to a great start, we embarked on the OSSIC Road Show around the world to bring our demos to folks like you who were interested in hearing the next step in audio. We traveled to Austin, TX, New York, NY, San Francisco, CA, Los Angeles, CA and London, England! Each stop was a lot of fun for us, especially because we got to see your reactions to OSSIC technology. We really loved being able to give people a demonstration of the technology before they chose to back, and in many cases after they backed! Meeting our backers was by far our favorite part of our stops. It was great to celebrate milestones like $1 million and $2 million with you all along the way!

Throughout the duration of our Kickstarter campaign our engineering team was hard at work both at our home office in San Diego, CA and abroad at our factory, gearing up for production of the OSSIC X. Dave Carr and Jose Arjol Acebal (our CPO and COO respectively) spent (and still spend!) so much time on the road back and forth between our office and factory so that they can work as directly as possible with the teams that we’re working with to deliver our product on time to you. We commend them and the rest of the engineering team so much for working to get the OSSIC X to you as fast as possible!

During the campaign there were also some great press articles written up about the OSSIC X that we hope you got to see! Game Informer, Popular Science, Digital Trends, and Upload VR were some of the publications that got excited about the 3D audio revolution. Check out the links to read the full stories!

Our Kickstarter came to an end on April 21st, 2016 and the OSSIC X Kickstarter funding total came to a whopping $2,708,472, making us the highest funded VR campaign in Kickstarter history. With that, the OSSIC X was a reality.

All in all, our Kickstarter campaign was an amazingly wild ride and we are so happy you joined us for it. Now comes the easy part: getting you this final product ;).
