OSSIC Fridays: June 3rd, 2016
Good news! It’s time for OSSIC Friday-- your one stop shop for all updates on the OSSIC X.
This week we’ve got some exclusive coverage of OSSIC at the factory coming your way, as well as a rundown on some of OSSIC’s newest team members.
OSSIC X: Production Time
Since the end of our Kickstarter campaign we have been hard at work with our partner-factory to source vendors and refine our design for final production. At the end of next week the factory will be putting together the first pre-production prototypes, which is an exciting and important step in the development timeline.
These early prototype builds help the manufacturer get prepared for the assembling one of the most complex headphones ever created (seriously!). They also give our team the opportunity to critically evaluate all aspects of the design and acoustics, and to troubleshoot any unforeseen issues that may arise.
We’ve been on a treasure-hunt to source very specific high-quality materials and find vendors to pull-off some of the more refined features. We’ve made great headway and are confident in the direction things are headed. We’ll have more updates and pictures from the production squad in the coming OSSIC Fridays, so stay tuned!
OSSIC welcomes new members to the team
The OSSIC team has grown a bit over the past two months. Our new team members are the brightest around, and we’re lucky to have them. Drum roll please....
Please welcome Jered Wikander to the team! Jered is a Sr. Mechanical Engineer from Portland, Oregon who will be working directly with our partner-factory on the development of the OSSIC X, as well as working on design from his new location in San Diego, CA.
Chim Yick Yu
Chim (a.k.a. Jim) joins our OSSIC Hong Kong office as a Sr. Electrical Engineer and will be working with Jose (founder) on the OSSIC X hardware design. Jim has many years of experience in high-tech electronics design and we are excited to have him on board!
Fun fact: Ramsey was a part of the OSSIC team back in our early stages, before we changed our name from Sonic VR. He was on the team in early 2015 as a Marketing Intern and returns to us now as a Business Analyst. He majored in Economics just down the street at University of California, San Diego.
We hope you’ve enjoyed this OSSIC Friday, OSSIC Army. We look forward to bringing you the freshest news next week. Until then, have a great weekend!
